Who is His Servants Ministries?

His Servants Ministries is a 501(c)3 that partners the medical and financial resources and skills of teams from the United States with national ministry leaders all around the world to meet help met the physical and spiritual needs of people right where they are.

Each location that His Servants Ministries sends mission teams to is a place that God has laid on the heart of one of Board members. We do not travel anywhere without direction from the Holy Spirit and much prayer for discernment. And as God raises the needs of that location in our hearts and minds, He also raises the right team of volunteers to join together and serve in that place.

HSM understands that we are not the be-all-end-all answer to the world, but that Jesus Christ is. And through Him, we can be a help to a few people in need. We believe we must work together with other believers throughout the world as one Church uniting to point others to God, through the meeting of physical and spiritual needs.

HSM Mission Statement:

His Servants Ministries has been established to proclaim God’s love to the world. (Mark 16:15)

It will be demonstrated by meeting the physical needs of people whenever and wherever possible. (Matthew 25:35-40)

As these needs are met, we will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who have not heard, and work to disciple all those who believe and will remain to continue in His Word. (John 8:31)

How did HSM begin?

His Servants Ministries grew from a short-term mission trip that Dr. Frederick Martin took with a local Methodist Church led by Rev. Charles Spice. During that trip Dr. Martin provided eye care in local villages of Belize, the year was 1990. 2 years later Dr. Martin was joined by Dr. Mark Henry, MD. The plan was to provide eye care including cataract surgery. In the ensuing years, the operating room in the Punta Gorda, Belize Hospital was rebuilt along with the delivery room and numerous cataract surgeries were performed.

Clinics were expanded to include medicine and dentistry. Dr. Harold Maynard, DDS became a regular part of these Clinics. Connections were made with the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) and the director, Mrs. Joan Musa through which HSM and BCVI sponsored summer camps for the visually impaired children of Belize directed by Marti Martin, Dr. Martin’s wife.

In 1994 HSM applied and was granted their 501-C3 status. Clinics were expanded to include Guatemala. The purpose of the health clinics was to provide an opportunity for telling the gospel story. In short, the medical teams were the dancing bears that people came to see but what the patients received was far more important than just health care.

From that humble beginning we currently provide various facets of health care in Thailand, Southeast Asia, Kenya, El Salvador and Guatemala, all the time providing a platform for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision for the Future:

His Servants Ministries will continue to put together our resources – willing individuals from all walks of life, financial and medical donations, access to materials not prevalent in the developing world, etc. – and use them as God leads throughout the world. We will continue to partner with national people who can follow up with those we have ministered with the understanding that these partners will be able to build relationships that will last far longer than our visits. These growing relationships with others from their own people groups, who speak the same languages, can then develop into deep discipleship in each location. And, it is our great prayer, that these discipleships can then help change the hearts of these countries towards Christ in genuine and lasting ways.
