Join us in 2023

I write this from an airport in the Middle East on my way to Southeast Asia.  I am running on caffeine and little sleep, so please bear with me as I share these thoughts with you…

I am in awe.  In awe that the Creator of the Universe would choose to allow us to be a part of His plans.  God does not need us to carry out His will – He could use the very rocks to tell people about His plan of salvation if He wanted to.  But He has invited us and called us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Matthew 28:18-20).  What an honor this is!

The HSM Mission Statement is as follows:
His Servants Ministries has been established to proclaim God’s love to the world. (Mark 16:15)  It will be demonstrated by meeting the physical needs of people whenever and wherever possible. (Matthew 25:35-40)  As these needs are met, we will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who have not heard, and work to disciple all those who believe and will remain to continue in His Word. (John 8:31)”

Tomorrow I meet up with my friends and ministry partners in Southeast Asia.  To say that I am excited is an understatement.  I am overwhelmed by joy!  To be in the same place where my heart has been since the pandemic shut down international travel will be wonderful.  I cannot wait to give you all an update after the trip!

While I am there I will be able to help meet the physical needs of the people there by bringing reading glasses for those who can not see well and by partnering with a dental team.  However, due to the rules of the country, we will not be able to share the gospel unless someone asks us first.  The Health Clinic will be the “dancing bear” that draws people in, but it will be the national team that will be the ones who will be answering questions and building relationships that will last long past my trip.

And this is where you come in:

1.) Please join me in praying for the safety of the team, for travel mercies as well as safety within the country.  Those I am partnering with are on fire for the Lord and bold in sharing their faith, but that also puts them at risk.  We will have guards with us, but they are there to ensure we comply the rules of the government more than to ensure our safety.  I look at this as an opportunity much like Paul with the soldiers watching over him in prison.

2.) Please also pray for those who we will be ministering to.  Please pray that we will be effective in meeting their physical needs and that their hearts will be open and receptive to our desire to minister to their spiritual needs as well.

3.)  Please pray for the unity of the team.  There will people from 3 countries speaking 3 different languages on this team.  Please pray that we will be united in our pursuit of others to the glory of God.  Please pray that we can find delight in eachothers’ company even with language barriers.  And please pray for restful evenings after long hard work days.  Over the next week we will be seeing around 3,000 people in the clinic and that can be exhausting.

I appreciate all the time you take out of your day to bathe us in prayer!

As we look in to 2023, we at HSM would love to have you join us on a short term mission trip some time in the future but we understand not everyone can go.  And out of those who are able to take the time off to go on one of these trips out of the country, not everyone will be able to afford the expenses.  You can be a valuable part of the our teams through financial support, prayer support, or both!  We invite you to partner with us in whatever ways possible to you as we continue to pursue our mission across the globe.

May God bless you and be glorified through your obedience to His calling on your heart,
– Kimmi Sparkman
